The Outer Dark Symposium Statement on Coronavirus
The Outer Dark Symposium team is monitoring developments related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and potential impact on travel to this year's symposium. Silver Scream FX Lab and Hotel Indigo College Park are currently operating normally. Any changes to operating status will be communicated immediately to all registered conference attendees. We are currently in the process of putting together a preparedness plan, which will be released shortly. Our thoughts and concern are with those affected in China, globally, and in the U.S..
For the most up-to-date information regarding the virus, please refer to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website ( https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html ). As always, please reach out with thoughts, concerns, or questions to: firstname.lastname@example.org
IMPORTANT! Due to budgeting, memberships are nonrefundable but are transferrable. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please email us at email@example.com with the name and email address of the individual will be attending in your place. We're also happy to help you find someone to buy your membership.
Note: It takes a Weird Village to put on an event like this. Membership rates are based on the cost of renting event space, catering, A/V rental costs, printing, meals for volunteers, and a program participant attendance assistance fund, and are supplemented by sponsorships and crowd-sourcing. Neither The Outer Dark nor our host network, This Is Horror, makes any profit on this event. In the unlikely circumstance that any proceeds in excess of expenses are raised, they will be used to seed the 2021 symposium or other The Outer Dark-sponsored activities.
